A Very Free School Indeed

With Sir Chris Woodhead's school now under international investigation for having harboured a prolific pederast, isn't the lack of Local Authority "interference" looking splendid?

Councils have not in fact run schools since 1988, an entire 26 years ago.

When Michael Gove suggests that they still do, then he is lying.

When the likes of Toby Young suggest it, then they simply do not know what they are talking about.

Being media apparatchiki, Gove and Young are both permitted and enabled to get away with it. Heaven forfend that they might be held accountable.

But, of course, the Local Authority has never had the slightest involvement in the Southbank International School.

And that has worked out well.

Hasn't it?

  1. You must stop basing your blogs on ill-informed Tweets (like this one, for instance).

Of course paedophiles have never worked in state schools before.

Britain's "non-free schools" (the vast majority of Britain's schools) have provided the worst-disciplined pupils in the developed world-as the University of East Anglia has just shown.

As well as the worst-educated, according to the OECD.

So that's working well isn't it?

Anyone who thinks the problem with Britain's third-world state education system is a few "free schools" convicts him or herself of being embarrassingly, pitifully clueless.

On a brighter note, here's one free school I can support that the NUT REALLY hates.

Gove is opening a £45 million selective sixth-form for "500 bright disadvantaged teens".

He knows exactly what he's doing; selective grammar schools will always be the only real solution to restore excellence in education and that truth always lurks beneath every failed British education policy, ever threatening to burst out into the open.

  2. The University of East Anglia has found our state schools produce the most undisciplined louts in the developed world.

Pity they didn't compare us with the third world, too. We'd have come out even worse.

And you leftist bores are still whingeing about a few "free schools". And Michael Gove.

As if our dreadful failing schools were not dreadful and failing before Michael Gove.

They were. And they will be under any other Education Secretary.

Until a Government recognises that Harold Wilson's Circular 10/65 and the abolition of grammar schools that followed was a crime against Britain.

    And reverses it.
