Don't Be A Selfish, Whining Monkey

"Would Rod Liddle be attracted to Ukip?"

"God no! You couldn't get a more anti-working-class party than Ukip. The problem with Ukip is that I suspect at its heart it is pro-immigration. It was set up for small businessmen! Petit bourgeois."

For all his party card, Rod offered to come and campaign for my parliamentary candidacy last time, before I became too ill to proceed with it. My, that would have been quite something.

(Mind you, very active Labour members and powerful sitting Councillors were at that point offering to sign my nomination papers.)

Still, Rod cannot be a racist, in that case. He leaves that to certain other members of the Labour Party...

  1. The Guardian's ICM poll data confirms everything Peter Hitchens wrote about why people voted UKIP to victory in the European elections.

    Because (surprise surprise!) they agreed with its policies.

    The Guardian notes (as if this is a revelation);

    ""Signs that British voters were attracted to Nigel Farage's Ukip in recent elections because of its controversial focus on immigration have been underpinned by a new survey....

    ""The poll, taken by ICM for the Guardian after the EU elections, shows that when it came to fears over the economy, almost half (46%) were most concerned about immigrants undercutting local workers.""

    ""At the same time, it showed "curbing immigration" was the top policy (26%) favoured as the best way of restoring faith in politics""

    I wondered when the media elite might wake up and notice that people actually voted UKIP because they agree with UKIP-and because they disagree with mass immigration.

  2. It is still never going to win a Commons seat. If it could not win Newark, at that time, then it cannot win anywhere, ever.
