Turning The Tables

Oh, what larks! The public schools turn out to be rubbish. Yes, I know. But it's still funny.

More seriously, since the English state education system has never been more centralised, why has the Secretary of State not resigned today?

And how is getting someone through a resit any less of an educational achievement than getting a high-flyer an A* at the first attempt?

  1. They didn't turn out to be any such thing-they are punished in the league tables for sitting more rigorous international exams instead of GCSE's.

The only league table that matters-entrance to top third Universities-has them knocking our third world state schools into a cocked hat.

    1. No university in this country admits predominantly from the commercial sector. Not one.

Certain Oxbridge colleges do have, often institutional, relationships with certain public schools. But even they do not admit predominantly from them.

      It is simply not true.

And the commercial schools, as schools, dare not submit to the same inspection regime as everyone else. We now see why. They are rubbish. As anyone looking at the present Government can see.
