Slaughtering The Sacred Cow

Precious little support on the Conservative benches as Jo Johnson seeks to defend his appointment of Toby Young. Robert Halfon, the disabled Chairman of the Education Select Committee, has been particularly scathing. It is time to put this matter to a division of the House.

As much as anything else, does the DUP support the preferment of a pornography addict who advocates abortion for "low IQ"? Do Conservative MPs regard Young as the best intellectual leader that conservatism can produce?

  1. He's toast. Johnson has had to admit that there was no vetting of him at all, he was just people's mate. As a self-confessed supplier of Class A drugs, Young would go to jail if he were anything other than a drinking buddy of this porn-riddled government.

    1. Indeed. 20 months for £13 worth of cocaine (and why not?), if you are not Toby Young: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/young-mother-given-20-month-prison-sentence-after-being-caught-with-cocaine-worth-13-a7081166.html.

No, they did absolutely no due diligence whatever. That ought to be a resignation issue. And what is is it with this Government and pornography? It is a complete obsession.

    1. Laughable, isn't it? Toby Young was 42 when Twitter was founded.

Come on. Let's put this to a vote, and see exactly how many MPs would so much as bother to turn up to vote for this person.

  3. Three Tory select committee chairs have said Toby Young should not be appointed and another has questioned the appointments process.
